Uses
This drug is used as a pain reliever, and will be used in cases of severe to moderate pain. The use will depend on the severity of the pain, and will vary according to the prescription.
How to take this medication
Ultracet has to be taken precisely according to the prescription. It should not be taken for longer duration without the consultation of the doctor. Since there is only one dosage, you should stick to a maximum dose of about 8 tablets a day. A lot of water has to be drunk after consuming the pill, and you need not compulsorily eat food after having the drug. You cannot stop the dosage without the consent of the doctor, and you should also reduce the dosage as time goes by.
Side effects
Some of the serious side effects are a weak pulse, shallow breathing, seizure, skin rash which results in peeling. There could also be a lot of difficulty with breathing and also other allergic reactions which could result in swelling. There are some other side effects which would cause problems with less severity. You will have dizziness, weakness and also drowsiness. You could face vomiting, blurred vision, flushing and insomnia.
Drug Precautions
Your breathing will be affected if you consume alcohol along with the drug. Any other drug which causes drowsiness and is used for cold, insomnia, depression, pain killers should all be avoided while using Ultracet. The combination could be fatal, and should be avoided. Acetaminophen is part of some other drugs, and since you have to take only a restricted portion each day, you should avoid other drugs. You also need to ensure that you do not drive or perform other activities after this drug is consumed. Marplan, Valium, Nardil etc should be avoided when you use Ultracet.
Drug interactions
Ultracet will react violently with erythromycin, Prozac, rifampin, digoxin, and many other drugs. If your doctor prescribes Ultracet you will have to tell him if you are on any other drugs or not. Even over the counter medications should be taken into account when you have the drug, such as minerals, vitamins, and other herbal or health products.
Overdose
It is fatal if you consume an overdose of the dug Ultracet. You can notice several symptoms when it comes to an overdose. They will include weakness, loss of appetite, clammy skin, pain in the stomach, jaundice and dark urine. You could also faint or go into a coma. You need medical assistance in any of the above situations.
Missed dose
Any missed dose should be taken as soon as you remember, but you should not make it a double dose with your next one. You can avoid the missed dose if it is already time for your next dose.
Storage
The drug has to be stored in a dry place, and absolutely no moisture should be allowed into the container. It has to be kept out of reach from children.
